control centres via the web, enabling:
- increased efficiency due to reduced delays from hold
and runway changes;
- earlier responses to forecast
weather conditions in the terminal control area;
- increased airfield capacity through better mitigation
of weather effects;

the location and severity of convective cells in the

The Met Office supplies five-day forecasts of optimum
routes across the North Atlantic to NATS at Swanwick.
This enables them to identify where North Atlantic traffic
will be entering controlled airspace and allows for more-effective manpower planning in particular UK air sectors.
