The Met Office returned to full operational capability this evening following a small fire at its Exeter headquarters earlier in the day. The fire disrupted power supplies to its operational systems and contingency plans were put in place to ensure that weather forecasts continued to be issued. During the evening power was restored to the operational systems in a controlled manner and forecasts and services are now being produced normally. The Met Office would like to thank its customers for their patience during the course of the incident.
