9 June 2006 Met Office forecasters are today issuing the first Heat-Health warning of the summer, as the UK looks set to have its hottest spell of weather so far this year. The prospect of heatwave conditions for some areas has triggered the criteria for the Heat-Health watch service delivered by the Met Office for the Department of Health and Welsh Assembly. Daytime highs of 28-30 °C over the coming days, coupled with warm nights, means health concerns are heightened. With many sporting and charity events taking place around the country, the strength of the sun and the combination of heat and humidity will also be important factors to consider.
