23 October 2006 Met Office forecasters are predicting more spells of wet and windy weather over the coming week - after many areas have already seen large rainfall totals over recent days. The heaviest rainfall looks like being reserved for the southern half of the UK, where some areas could see up to 60 mm of rain by Friday. Heavy rain will cross England and Wales from the south during Monday afternoon and after a respite for some on Tuesday, more heavy and prolonged rain will spread north to all areas on Wednesday. Fresh or strong winds at times throughout the week, with gales in places, will add to the autumnal feel. Up-to-date information on flooding is provided by the Environment Agency, for England and Wales, and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency on their web sites, or via the Floodline on 0845 988 1188.
