On-demand forecasts
For the first-time mobile users are now able to get on-demand video weather forecasts to their phones.
We have joined up with mobile TV specialists Gorillabox, to provide the very latest weather information via its mobile portal. This is the first time, anywhere in the world, that bespoke, on-demand video weather forecasts have been made available on mobile devices.
The forecasts are updated several times a day and come from the Met Office's television studio in Millbank, London.
Our studio is equipped with the latest technology enabling us to produce a wide variety of services, from ready-to-air TV bulletins to broadcasts for the web and mobiles.
Gorillabox will managing and tracking the website's mobile TV weather campaign. This includes everything from ingesting and encoding the content, and deploying and maintaining the mobile site through to offering advertising opportunities within the site.
How it works
To get the Met Office mobile internet content on your phone simply text MET to 68008 or type in the address http://metofficemobile.mobi
The Met Office content is free, but users will need to check with their mobile provider on the cost of downloading video.
